AlphaFold and the demon-duck of doom - Google DeepMind
11:00 good question, David being pissy as usual about it Great lecture though
That one game Lee Sodol won was his talent on top god's move. God knew if all games were to be won by Alfa go program.. it'll really break his trust , his confidence in his game , and he was playing for humanity. It's more of showing that humans are more than winning... it's about experience..
I appreciate the course, it's been recommended to me by a few people, but I don't like David's mildly dismissive and belittling attitude to some of these questions (I'm guessing out of nervousness because he's trying to cram a lot of content in).
He was a sassy little twink before his time
Me recuerda Oppenheimer... y no es casualidad.
i don't think this movie explained how scary it is for a computer program to beat lee sedol because people might think "how is that different from deepblue beating Kasparov?" . I personally played go on a nintendo when i was ten in the 1990's. Back then, I was just a beginner, and I could beat the nintendo easily regularly. So I always thought computers could never beat a human, let alone the best human player. then fast forward 20 years, it gave me chills to witness alphago beating lee sedol.
The heartbeat at the beginning is annoying
Lee Sodol play goes to show the power of our amazing human brain...if we use only 10% of its capacity in our entire lifetime, imagine what it'd do if we did the remaining 90%! While many say Lee improved as a result of this machine. On the otherhand I believe, AlphaGo learnt from Lee and improve its algorithm's output. I believe in the present and future of AI, but believe more in the human brain, and hope it trains LLMs in responsible and ethical way for her good!

I sometimes wonder if the Deepmind team ever regret creating AlphaGo, seeing how the AI technology is used nowadays.
It was in the interest of humanity that AG team conditionally programmed AG to lose
1:06:51 You are here for this. ???: Once upon a time, there was a man who won against AI. !!!: Bulls**t!
This one on one example is a great representation of the interaction between classicism & academic revelations (many on many).
It is taking time for classicism to accept the outcome.
We are now getting to see what the universe & life are really about.
Im watching this at 3am and its 2024. I never heard of go, lee, or anything close but the algorithm suggested it with 37 million views mde me watch it. There is 15 mins left to watch but my god…… oohhh my god… im like watching dota internationals documentary.. move 37, 1 in 10,000 moves, god move.. the title is not wrong. this video is award winning documentary man. thank you. im more socially aware, educated, entertained, and lee.. you’re a god.
Nothing like seeing Ai enthusiasts get absolutely destroyed
reached the end, wow that was a very complete lecture series, thank you very much for having all these uploaded here
The bit about possibly writing code without bugs being a bigger achievement than AlphaGo is very funny
I wept bitterly for this film. I loved it. My one gripe is cultural, the movie didn't quite capture the aura and mystique surrounding the "god move" or "divine move". Go isn't just a game, it's almost a philosophy. In a game with infinite possibilities, players seek to play not just the best move, but the move of inconceivable perfection, the very move that God would've made. They seek excellence beyond excellence. Like life, there exists an infinite amount of moves. And yet, we have limited resources and many pressures that push us to make choices. Even though one might want the very best, oftentimes things beyond our control force our hand, and we have to make a move. Oh that we had inifinte time and wisdom to ponder the divine move, a sad reality that we all must face. This tension that we live with makes Go, and life, interesting. The divine move isn't just about playing a confusing or esoteric/unconventional move for the sake of mind games; confusion is merely an accident (symptoms or side effect) of divinity. For how could one seek to understand transcendence? Transcendence by definition cannot be comprehended. God is not that which exists within the bounds of our imaginations, God is utterly unknowable. He is bigger than we could comprehend, and smaller than we could ever imagine. He is both far away and very near, His existence is not paradoxical, He is the one that sustains reason and He is the wisdom that underpins the universe. How could creatures of flesh and bone, mere mortals, hope to perceive that uncreated light? Divinity by its very nature confuses the hearts of men. They see but no not perceive and hear but do not understand. Our only hope is that we carefully consider our each and every move and to conform our hearts to God, hoping that in our humility, He will give us the grace to be like Him. This is what it means to play the divine move. To strive unceasingly for perfection. To unite oneself in body and mind with the movement of the divine. To be filled with such inspiration that one cannot help but see a single move. Peering through the darkness, and finding that which others have passed over and treasuring it up. By seeing this 1/10,000 move, Lee Sedol united himself with the divine for a mere moment. This is the cultural underpinning that goes unstated or misunderstood by the documentary.
The wolf in sheep's clothing!! Will AI help to keep chemicals and poisonous substances out of my food, water, car........... No Will it reduce greed, corruption in politics and corporations. No Will it improve democracy and keep totalitarianism at bay? Definitely not At the end it will benefit the ones on top, facilitating the same status quo, just more efficiently and a touch of cruelty. Them soft ware geeks like Zuckerberg are so limited in their vision for potential shortcomings. Or maybe they just pretend to be. Rite
At 40:54, shouldn’t the P11 be Pn1?
what a powerful marvel you're gifting us, Sir Hassabis... thank you so much! • • 🖤•
Damn <3
This lecture does not quite explain things ,it's like he is telling facts about the topic .
21:30 i used to play for the England’s team, there should be no S at the end, grammar mistake by a native English speaker
One of the most exciting documentaries I have ever seen!
I think the difference between humans and the AI's way of thinking is humans have a tendency to want to win by a lot of points but the AI knows that it can win the game just buy winning a few points more. This kind of precise calculation is very hard for humans. We can probably do it once or twice but not in the long run.
No chances in 2024, apes
No acknowledgement or credit to the countless Go players google team use to train their machine?
This documentary makes it such a big deal. Is it really hard to swallow that a large number of smart researchers working day and night cannot develop a program to beat a single human?
the Huge Mega 🎮Sir Hassabis 🎮
This documentary is amazing and the story it tells is so beautiful
Amazing!
2:54 I find it hard to believe the devs did not know that strategy I glommed on to it after playing a couple of times as a kid I thought everyone knew that, it just seemed obvious to me Anyone else? 👇
can anyone share link for music of this documentary
I feel so bad for Fan Hui. Imagine losing to the most advanced Go supercomputer and being called an amateur by people who couldn't beat a 1980s calculator.
Amazing. Congrats to all these smart folks pushing the envelope
This is a staged documentary... It has been shown as if alphago can error in some situation.. but it's staging.. alphago would defeat Lee seedol everytime, just because it's human vs machine, it's shown as if human triumphed over AI .. but that's just for funding and not to scare humans... Alphago would and could defeat Lee seedol 1000000000-0
This is one of the racist documentaries ever. In this documentary, the brown engineer/scientist from sri lanka or india has been continuously ignored in all the footages and korean newspaper clippings shown. It is very clear.
world, i, **we** need more Hassabis. talk to us, Demis! 🖤
Its crazy when you know how the Shortest Path Bellman Ford algo was derived

la bellezza e la profondità di questo video. dovreste usarlo come materiale di apprendimento, in quattro minuti spiega l'AI meglio di un corso di due ore! much 🖤, Hassabis and all ... grazie!
Incredible one of the best documentaries
Intelligence, doesn’t mean wisdom.
